The Light Test
A swatch shot in a studio tells you how a shade looks in a studio. Before a Lucerna complexion shade launches, its swatch is photographed on a gray shade card under the three lights you will actually wear it in, and the photos go on the product page.

foundation shades
Twelve depths, from 100 to 430, in four undertones: cool, neutral, warm and olive.
3 lights
for every complexion shade
Daylight, warm indoor light and phone flash.
3 depths
of skin in every wear test
In the lab, each shade is worn on light, medium and deep skin before it launches.
4 hours
before we read the color again
The foundation is oxidation tested at four hours, so the shade you put on is the shade you finish with.

Shade Finder
Tell us how deep your skin is, how foundations usually go wrong on you and how much coverage you like. The Shade Finder returns your Lanternlight or Dewlight shade, the concealer mapped to it and the setting powder that will not flash back. It takes about two minutes, and you see the result without leaving an email.
What we believe
For twelve years on film and television sets, Maya mixed foundation by hand, because the shade ranges on the shelf never covered her cast. The deepest shades went red, the olive ones did not exist, and the fair ones were pink whether your skin was or not. Lucerna started as the range she wished she could have bought.
Then came the harder problem: selling it online. A camera shifts color, a screen shifts it again, and the light in your bathroom is not the light on your commute. We cannot fix your screen. What we can do is photograph every complexion shade under three lights, wear it in the lab on three depths of skin, test it for oxidation, and tell you plainly what a photo cannot show.
And when the match is still off, we take it back. One exchange per order is free, swatched or lightly worn, with the label on us. We would rather ship a second bottle than have you wear the wrong one.

Refill Program
The Velvet Verse case is anodized aluminum with a magnetic cap, and the Soft Focus compact is built around a magnet. Both are meant to be kept. When the color runs out, or you want a different one, the refill twists or clicks in.

Shade Promise
Foundation, concealer, skin tint, setting powder and bronzer are covered. Within 45 days you can exchange one for another shade of the same product, even if you have swatched it or worn it lightly. It is one free exchange per order, and the return label is ours.
Sets
One is the matched complexion routine: foundation, the concealer the shade card picks for it and a sponge. The other is the ten-minute face, in the order it goes on.

From verified reviews
Every warm foundation I have owned goes orange on me and every cool one goes gray. 250O is the first bottle that looks like my neck in daylight and in my car mirror. I did the minis first and I am glad I did, because I was sure I was a W.

Lanternlight Skin Foundation
I wear 350N in the foundation and the page told me 8.1 to match and 7.4 to brighten. Both were right. I have never bought a concealer online without returning it before.

Halo Blur Concealer
I keep one gold case and rotate refills. It costs less, and there is one less tube rolling around my bag.

Velvet Verse Lipstick Refill
I have oily lids and every mascara ends up under my eyes by the afternoon. This one has not moved once. It comes off in the shower in little tubes, which was strange the first time.

Lumen Lash Tubing Mascara
I have ruined so many pictures with white setting powder. Translucent Rich is invisible on me in person and in a flash photo. That alone is worth the price.
Nkechi O.
Soft Focus Setting Powder
I have never known whether I am warm or olive. One day in 250W, one day in 250O, and it was obvious by lunch: the W went orange and the O vanished. Fourteen dollars well spent, and I got it back on the bottle.
