The lipstick
Every full Velvet Verse Lipstick comes in an anodized aluminum case with a magnetic cap. The refill is the same bullet, in the same formula, on a small aluminum base. All twenty-four core shades are sold as refills, so one case can hold a different color every time.
Twist down
Wind the empty bullet all the way into the case.
Pull out
The old base slides straight out.
Push in
Press the refill in until it clicks, and remove its paper collar.
Cases are also sold on their own, in four finishes, for a second shade or a gift. For a first Velvet Verse, the full lipstick is the better buy: it is $24 with a case included, where a case and a refill bought separately are $30.
The powder
The Soft Focus compact holds its pan with a magnet. The refill pan is the same powder in a paper sleeve, with no plastic tray. Any of the five tints fits the same compact, which helps if your shade changes between winter and summer.

It sits at the edge of the pan.

The empty pan comes out by the tab.

Press the new pan in until it clicks.
The palette
The Build-a-Palette works on the same idea from the other direction: an empty magnetic case with a full-size mirror, and twenty Single Glow shades sold as individual pans. You buy the shades you use and replace the one you finish.
What happens to the empties
- The lipstick base and the powder pan are aluminum. Rinse them and recycle them where metals are accepted.
- The paper sleeve and collar go with paper.
- We do not run a mail-back program, and we would rather say so than imply one.
Refills on a schedule
The Soft Focus refill pan can be put on Auto-Replenish, at 10% off each delivery, every 4, 8, 12 or 16 weeks. The lipstick refill is not on Auto-Replenish: people change shades too often for a schedule to make sense.
Warranty on the hardware
The Velvet Verse case, the Soft Focus compact and the Build-a-Palette are covered by the tools and cases warranty for one year from delivery: a twist that stiffens, a magnet that lets go, a hinge that fails under normal use.

Refill questions
Does the refill fit an engraved or limited case?
Yes. Any Velvet Verse refill fits any Velvet Verse case, including the engraved cases from the holiday set and the Nightbloom trio.
Can I return a refill?
Unopened, within 30 days of delivery. An opened lipstick refill is an opened lip product and cannot come back. A powder refill is a complexion product, so the Shade Promise covers one exchange for another tint.
Is the formula of a refill different?
No. Refills are identical to the product they replace.
Do refills earn Lumens?
Yes. Any signed-in order earns 5 Lumens per dollar.
