How to use
  1. Find your foundation shade in the Shade Library. It lists two concealers: the exact match for spots, and one step lighter for brightening under the eye.
  2. Dot a small amount where you need it: the inner corner and outer third under the eye, or directly on a spot.
  3. Wait thirty seconds. The formula thickens slightly as it sets, and it covers more if you let it.
  4. Tap it in with a fingertip or a damp sponge. Tap, do not drag.
  5. Set under the eyes with the lightest press of powder if you crease easily.
  • Store below 30 °C, away from direct sunlight and out of a hot car
  • Keep caps and compacts closed, and never share lip or eye products
  • Replace mascara and liquid liners three months after opening, everything else within twelve months
  • Patch test a new complexion or lip product on the inner wrist a day before first use

Under three lights

Halo Blur Concealer, shade 5.1: the same swipe on a gray shade card in daylight, in warm indoor light and under phone flash
  1. DaylightIndirect, mid-morning, by a north-facing window. The honest one for undertone.
  2. Warm indoor lightThe warm bulbs of a living room in the evening. Everything leans golden.
  3. Phone flashHead on, at arm's length. Cold and direct, where flashback shows.

Questions

Asked about Halo Blur Concealer

How do the concealer numbers work?

There are thirty-six steps, from 1.1, the lightest, to 9.4, the deepest. The first number is the depth family and the decimal is the step inside it. Odd decimals lean neutral-cool and even decimals lean neutral-warm, so each family has a lighter and a deeper shade in each lean.

Which concealer goes with my foundation?

The shade card on each concealer shade names its foundation match, and the Shade Library has the whole table. As an example, Lanternlight 210N matches 4.3 exactly, and 4.2 is its brightening shade, one step lighter.

Should I match exactly or go lighter?

Match exactly for covering spots, redness and anything on the rest of the face. Go one step lighter for brightening under the eye. Two steps lighter tends to look gray in daylight.

Does it crease?

It is tested at eight hours under the eye. It resists creasing; no concealer is immune to it. A thin layer, thirty seconds to set and a light press of powder give you the best chance.

Is the Shade Promise valid for concealer?

Yes. Concealer is one of the five complexion products it covers: one free exchange per order for another shade, within 45 days, even lightly used.

Can I use it without foundation?

Yes. Over bare skin or over the Dewlight Skin Tint, choose the exact match rather than the brightening shade, so it disappears into your skin.

Shade 7.4 · Deep skin, neutral undertone

The mapping took out the guesswork

I wear 350N in the foundation and the page told me 8.1 to match and 7.4 to brighten. Both were right. I have never bought a concealer online without returning it before.

  2. Paige D.

    Verified buyer

Shade 1.2 · Fair skin, neutral undertone

Does not sit in my lines by lunch

I am forty-six and most concealers are in the creases by eleven. This one is still where I put it at five. Thin layer, wait, tap.

  3. Yasmin K.

    Verified buyer

Shade 4.1 · Light to medium skin, olive undertone

Went one step lighter, not two

I ordered two steps lighter out of habit and it looked ashy outdoors. Exchanged for one step lighter and it is exactly right. The page does say this.

  4. Renata S.

    Verified buyer

Shade 5.2 · Medium skin, warm undertone

Covers a spot in one tap

The exact match shade over a blemish disappears completely. I keep the brightening one for under my eyes and the match for everything else.

  5. Aoife M.

    Verified buyer

Shade 2.1 · Fair to light skin, cool undertone

A bit dry on my under-eyes

Coverage is great and the shade is right. On my very dry under-eye area it looks a little flat by the evening unless I put eye cream on first. With eye cream, four stars.

  6. Jamila W.

    Verified buyer

Shade 9.3 · Rich skin, warm undertone

    Deep shades with no gray

Brightening shades on deep skin usually turn gray or orange. 9.3 just looks like light on my face.

  7. Tess B.

    Verified buyer

Shade 3.2 · Light skin, neutral undertone

    Small tube, lasts for months

You need very little. I am four months into daily use and it is still going.

  8. Mei L.

    Verified buyer

Shade 4.3 · Light to medium skin, neutral undertone

    Carves a brow nicely too

I use the exact match under my brow and around my lip line. Sharp, clean, and it stays.

  9. Corinne J.

    Verified buyer

Shade 6.4 · Tan skin, warm undertone

    Wand picks up a lot

Lovely formula. The doe-foot comes out loaded, so I wipe it on the rim first. Minor.
